Ashoka Stupa Kolhua, Bihar,India.

Kolhua is between Vaishali and Muzaffarpur, around 12 km from Vaishali. At Kolhua, Lord Buddha preached his last sermon. To commemorate the event, Emperor Ashoka, in the third century B.C. erected one of his famous lion pillars. Adjacent to this is the tank associated with the monkeys offering honey.

Vaishali Buddhists and jains pilgrim center

Reading history is not sufficient, we should also visit historical place

On 9th April 09 I along few friends planed to visit Vaishali a historical place which we read only in history books. We were stationed at Muzaffarpur a district in Bihar state. The trip was not planned well because of time factor. We caught a local bus reached the place which was nearly 40 Kilometers from Muzaffarpur. Vaishali is very important pilgrim center for jains and Buddhists. Lord Mahavir was born in Vaishali and lived till his 22nd year.

Today Vaishali is a small village with fields, from main road we walked 2 Kilometers to reach world peace Pagoda. On the way you can see a beautiful Vietnamese Buddhist Stupa-vihar which still under construction.World peace Pagoda the symbol of World peace at Vaishali, was constructed by Japanese Buddhists. The top portion of the stupa houses Lord Buddha’s statues; these statues are made of glass and fiber and have been polished by gold.

museum is present for the benefit of visitors. Facing the museum is the Abhishek Pushkarni which was holy to Lichchhavis. Shaded stupa near to Close to the museum is supposed to have housed with the ashes of Buddha.

Lastly Food, drinking water and transportation are very poor, if aged persons wish to visit better they hire a cab with food stuff either from Muzaffarpur or Patna, flow of visitors are less.

Intra Uterine Growth Retardation

A case of Intra Uterine Growth Retardation:
Intrauterine growth restriction describes poor growth of a fetus. Specifically, it refers to a fetus whose weight is below the 10th percentile for gestational age. In Intrauterine growth restriction an unborn baby may not get enough nutrition because of: 1) Heart disease in the mother 2) High altitudes 3) Multiple pregnancies (twins, triplets, etc.) 4) Placenta problems 5) Preeclampsia or eclampsia, Congenital or chromosomal abnormalities are often associated with below-normal weight. Infections during pregnancy that affect the fetus, such as rubella, cytomegalovirus, toxoplasmosis, and syphilis may also affect the weight of the developing baby. Risk factors in the mother that may contribute to IUGR include: Alcohol abuse, Drug addiction .High blood pressure or heart disease, Poor nutrition, Smoking (7)
Ms S, aged 27years, obese patient with gravid 2, Para one, 7 months amenorrhea came to me on 050906, with poor development of fetus as shown in US Scan
US Scan report on 030906: FHR: 148BPM, 21-22 WEEKS, CEPHALIC PRESENTATION, FETAL WEIGHT 442Gm, and BPD—5CM, AC: 16CM FL: 6
P/H: first pregnancy was with toxemia of pregnancy, prematurety.
On Radar 7.0 rubric fetus, arrest of development of: Only one remedy
Secale cornutum (3rd grade remedy) was given.
In Hering C guiding symptoms under Secale cornutum remedy
says Arrested Development foetus .
On 050906 Secale cornutum, 30c, 3doses were given, Calcaria Phos 6 x
Tabs were given for 10 days.
231006 patients came with general well-being, Rubrum 3doses,
Calcaria Phos 6x tab were given.
On the advice of Gynecologist she underwent for US scan, the following was he report.
US Scan report on 301006: FHR: 148bpm, 30-31 weeks, FETAL WEIGHT 1452gm, BPD—76 CM, AC –251 CM, FL 3.9
According to the report fetal weight from 442Gm to 1452gm. The scan was done at same place by same sonologist.
231106 moments were present. A dose of Syphilinum 1m, one dose was given for Miasmatic clearance.
In the last part of 8th month she underwent cesarean section she was blessed with male child.
Summary: In the above case there is very less scope in other systems of medicines. The above case homoeopathy prevented of fetal death. In the above discussed patient cause of IUGR may be Placenta problems or Congenital or chromosomal abnormalities only. Because of financial condition I couldn’t investigate further. Presently age of the child (IUGR recovered) is around 2years with highly irritable nature, physical mile stones are normal, slight delay in the speech is noted. Detailed case will be published after a year.
In maternity child health program role of homoeopathy is unimaginable. The main goal is to reduce newborn mortality and maternal mortality significantly by 2015.

Government should encourage homoeopathic physicians in MCH program by posting them in health care centers. Homoeopathic system can tackle the common causes of maternal deaths as majority of homoeopaths are not academicians to know about fetal medicine or maternity child health program of government. It is a fact since ages knowingly or unknowingly homoeopaths are contributing in reducing the maternal mortality rate and infant mortality rate in rural areas.

Katta metta

Katta metta

Going down the memory lane, there are particular dates/days that stand out vividly in my memories. And one such date is 29th August 1974.

The day started off on a quiet normal note but at lunch time my father gave me the message that I was appointed as a demonstrator in Govt homoeopathic college. I joined my job the same day with a mix of emotions as I was joining the same college I graduated from. Moreover, it sounded to be a rather dicey incidence as I was posted in my friend’s place (he was transferred to another district). I was allotted a social and preventive subject for which the class was scheduled to start the very next day. Thankfully my father who had significant experience in teaching gave me some very useful tips. My first class was an ordeal of course, as the administrators as well as some my senior colleagues were observing the session. To my relief and over my expectations, my 1st class concluded on a successful note. For this I have two of my mentors to thank for - Dr Kishna Rao, who was instrumental in starting Jaisoorya homoeopathic college in Hyderbad, and Dr Siva Shankar, former Addl Director, AYUSH dept Govt of Andhra Pardesh, India. They gave me a chance at teaching as well start my successful career.

Things then went on uneventfully until the year 1976, which was like a sweet and sour soup on a platter of delectable Indian food, as this year marked a new phase in my life – my marriage. I married a Homoeo graduate from a different community much to the consternation and anger of my parents. But with God’s grace and the moral support from my friends, I started my life anew, and carried on with my official work without taking off even a day then (a fact which baffles my daughter to this day). The credit here goes to another mentor, Major Joshi Rao, who helped me immensely in shaping my career.

1982 marked a major event in my life, as my wife and I were blessed with a cute and sparkling baby girl. From then on, we could hardly say life was boring as went through the joyful years of watching our daughter grow. She completed her B.Tech and MBA, and is now working as an Associate Consultant in an MNC at Hyderabad. The credit for her education and her career shaping all goes to my wife who has been a pillar of strength and support for our daughter.

During one of my conversations with Dr Nagabushan Rao, a Neuro-Physician, he said “nobody is going to market your greatness, only you can do it through periodically presenting papers in national seminars and publishing your treated cases in international and national journals.” I took this as a challenge and published my 1st article in the national journal titled “Hahnemann Gleening.” In 1976 I published my 1st International article in British Homoeopathic Journal.

From then on, I presented papers at various national and international level conferences such as Nepal and Sri Lanka International conferences. This paper was on “The study of psychological illness in Prisoners in relation to Sycotic Miasm and childhood exercise induced Asthmas.”

Year 2005 was again a mixed year with sorrow and happiness. I retired from the Government service after successfully serving for 31 years in various capacities lastly as Vice Principal and professor and head of the department of Medicine at JSPS Government Homoeopathic College, Hyderabad.

I was awarded Government Andhra Pradesh best teacher award and it was definitely a life time achievement for me. I felt that at least Government of Andhra Pradesh recognized my talent.

I lost my father, a great teacher and Physician who served the Government of Andhra Pradesh more then two and half decades in various capacities as professor and superintendent in conventional system of medicine. His death created a deep vacuum in my life.

Disc prolapse & Homoeopathy

Herniated disc is referred by many different names like lumbar disk disorders, lumbar disk disease, low back pain, sciatica, intervertebral disk disorders, back pain, sciatic nerve, disk herniation, disk bulge, disk protrusion, disk extrusion, disk sequestration, herniated disk(3). Approximately 25% of the populations between the ages 40 to 50 have shown evidence of a disc prolapse / herniation on MRI scan, most of which were asymptomatic at the time. The diagnosis of disc herniation is therefore a clinical one, relying mainly on the history of pain and neurological abnormalities the age group most commonly affected is adults aged 25-45 years with the male-to-female ratio approximately

Homoeopathic medicines are very effective in treating Disc prolapse, in my study I could get good results with only homoeopathic medicines. Work absence has drastically come down in effected people.
